(Post 45) Final setting(s)

Settings I was going to use originally:
Norwich Light Tunnel:
I was originally going to film some of the backstory in this location. I chose to do this as it was a very pretty, romantic location that was easy to get to.
However, in the end, I was unable to film here. This was due to a few factors:
  • As it was only a limited time for this location (it was only around during Christmastime), I only really had a small time window in which I could film here. I struggled to arrange and organize my actors within this time period and was eventually unable to film here at all, as it was taken away.
  • As mentioned, I struggled to gather my actors to film, and the only times where we were all able to film, I only had a limited time available. I did mention in my original post that an advantage of this location was the distance away, as it was easy to get to. However, this turned out to be more of a disadvantage, as we only had a short time to get as much as possible. Because of this, I was wary of wasting this time traveling to the places. I decided in the end not to use locations in Norwich, and make the most of our local town.

The Plantation Garden, Norwich:
I was primarily going to use this location for its picturesque sweeping lawns and romantic atmosphere. However, in the end, I was unable to use this location.
Reasons for this are mentioned above, but the main reason was time management- people were rarely available to film, so I really needed to make the most of the time I did have, and chose a closer location.

Field, Tuttles Lane, Wymondham:
This location was one of my first choice locations. I decided to use this location directly because of how close it was to my house. It is around five minutes from my house, so is perfect for filming. In the end, this was one of the only locations that I actually used. When using this location, I found it really easy to use for many reasons:
  • It is a private property (as it is owned by a farmer), but we stayed on the public footpaths, and dirt-tracks, so we weren't trespassing or doing anything illegal.
  • It was a five-minute walk from my house, so I took a break at my house and had lunch, before going out again and coming to the location. This also meant that when the weather turned, and it started pouring with rain, we could run home quickly and get dry.
  • It was a wide, open location which had the perfect space for what I needed.

Holkham Beach:
This location would have been absolutely perfect, and I'm disappointed that I was unable to use this. To start, I knew that this would be a difficult location to use as it is quite far away. As mentioned, my actors were quite difficult to organize, so it was hard to find the time to film here. I wouldn't even film too much here, so it seemed a little pointless. If my actors were more available, I would have tried to find a day to film here. I still may try to get here, but I doubt I will be able to.

Locations I will use:
Because I was unable to use some of the locations I wanted to, I decided to use some different settings:
River Tiffey:
This location was always a possibility for me, as it is so close. It is a perfect location as it has picturesque fields and lanes around the river. There are several shallower sections of the stream, which would be perfect for the actors to enter and paddle in. It is a very pretty location overall and is situated really close to my home.

Advantages of this location:

  • It is close to my home. The Tiffey flows throughout Wymondham, but where I want to film is roughly 20 minutes from my house. This is beneficial, as it lessens the travel time, and improves the actual filming time.
  • It is a very pretty, romantic location. My video is portraying the romance and happiness of the past to the two characters, and this location is a very beautiful location which portrays this.
  • It is public property and is not owned by anyone. This is beneficial, as it means we wouldn't be trespassing.
Disadvantages of this location:

  • It is really weather dependent. In an ideal circumstance, I would like my actors to paddle in the river. However, this is very weather dependent, and I may struggle to do this, as it will be really cold and icy and I don't want my actors to get freezing cold unnecessarily.

Wymondham Abbey:
One of the final locations I am going to use is the local church, Wymondham Abbey. I am not planning to go inside the church, and will only venture on the church grounds around it. This is because it has rather picturesque grounds, with a long pathway surrounded by trees and a few benches. I am planning to film a couple of long shots of the couple walking along the pathways, and seated on the bench.

Advantages of this location:
  • Similarly to the Tiffey, Wymondham Abbey is very local. It is a twenty-minute walk from my house and is minutes away from the Tiffey. This is advantageous as it will allow me to spend more time filming, and I will be able to film on any day, as we can walk to the Abbey. We won't need any parents to give us a lift anywhere.
  • It is a very pretty location and is romantic.
  • It is also open to the public at all times. There are regular church services on a Sunday, but any other day will be perfect (or later on in a Sunday).
Disadvantages to this location:
  • Although the Abbey is closer, it simply isn't as pretty as the Plantation Gardens in Norwich. It is more of a second-choice, and I would have preferred using the locations in Norwich.
