(POST 38) CHECKPOINT 1- R&P Mark scheme
These are the criteria for a level four blog:
Wendy Mackinnon A2 blog:
To compare my blog, I decided to look at Wendy's blog, as I feel her posts are very in-depth and fulfill the criteria for a level four blog.
Here are a few screenshots of one of her particularly detailed blog posts:
I believe that this post truly shows the detail that this blog goes into in each post. I chose this post as an accurate representation as I felt it effectively fulfilled the criteria and was an excellent example of a blog post. I felt this as it was incredibly detailed and each section was designed nicely and clearly thought through. Specifically, I felt it effective that Wendy had not only stated the location she was intentionally hoping to film in but the advantages and disadvantages of each location. After each location, she also offered a few alternatives, which I believe showed she really thought out her location for the final piece.
I feel this definitely reached band four, as it excellently showed all the criteria, and successfully portrayed the meaning and intentions of the setting. The rest of this blog is like this and is incredibly detailed when possible. Because of this, I believe that this blog should be a high level four.
How this blog fulfills the criteria:
I believe that Wendy's blog fits all the criteria for a level 4, but these four criteria stand out to me.
First, all her research and planning has been done to the best effect. Each blog post is up accordingly, and are all really detailed and well-done.
It is obvious from her posts that she has carefully organised the times and dates each actor can use. She has observed the timings for the location and carefully organised her actors and props.
Her time management is great, each blog post is up correctly, and the filming is all underway.
Finally, her communication skills are the best part of her blog, in my opinion. She has been incredibly detailed and organised and each definition of explanation makes full sense. Her chunks of text are complex and detailed yet readable.
How does your blog compare?:
Personally, for me this blog is aspirational. It is incredibly detailed and organized, and I wish to make my blog similar. I try my hardest to make each post possible as detailed as I can, and in this respect, I feel I compare a little to Wendy's. However, her posts are really detailed and well-written, so I believe that her blog posts have a kind of finesse over mine. This is what I aspire for my blog to look like.
Megan Lansdell A2 Blog:
I chose Megan's blog as my second comparison. I believe this blog is a level 4. Megan's blog is different in many ways to Wendy's, but I believe they are both high-level fours.
Here are some screenshots of some blog posts:

I believe that these blog posts are up to the highest standard. They use less textual knowledge than Wendy, but the layout and thorough use of pictures and information make this blog a really excellent piece. Even the layout of the blog is excellent- the black font over a plain white background is particularly aesthetic, and I felt the layout really accentuated the videos and information. Overall, I commend this blog for its use of multi-media (pictures, drawings, powerpoint, and information). I think it is definitely to a high standard as it portrays in-depth information in an interesting, varied way.
How this Blog fulfills the criteria:
I believe that this blog is hitting all of the notable things in band four. However, there are a few statements in band four that particularly stand out to me for this blog:
How Does your blog compare?:
I believe my blog looks rather different to this one. In my blog, I tend to use more information, and type up a lot of the relevant information onto Blogger, rather than use multi-media platforms. This is what I would like to change in the future on my blog, as it tends just to be a long series of informative, wordy blog posts, without the intricacy of the multi-media, like Megan has done.
Planning and research evidence will be complete and detailed.
· There is excellent research into similar products and a potential target audience.
· There is excellent work on shot lists, layouts, drafting, scripting or storyboarding.
· There is excellent organisation of actors, locations, costumes or props.
· Time management is excellent.
· There is excellent skill in the use of digital technology or ICT in the presentation.
· There are excellent communication skills.
· There is an excellent level of care in the presentation of the research and planning.

I believe these four statements portray how this blog gets its information across. Megan has done lots of clear, informative information about music videos she is inspired by and has completed all the audience research videos to discover how consumers will view her video.
She has included deeply informative storyboards, which show the layout and shot lists of her video idea.
Her presentation really stands out and is clear. She has used lots of effects to make her presentation as nice as it is, and I think it is really well laid out.
