(Post 50) Feedback on your rough cut

Negative Points about the rough cut:

• 'The shots weren't particularly interesting.' Some of the shots I used were particularly dull. I hadn't really thought through the shots exactly, which really showed in the rough cut. I am going to improve this in the rest of my filming (on Sunday), by really thinking through each shot separately. This will improve the filming that is yet to come and will hopefully make the shots look better overall.

• 'The shots held on for too long'. Certain camera angles and shots were effective, but they held on for far too long in editing. We talked in the lesson about the perfect length for shots in a music video. It seemed that roughly three seconds of fast-paced moments were interesting. Longer sections could get bigger clips. However, my rough cut consisted of mainly longer shots (apart from in the fast-paced moment). This made it seem stretched out, and boring in sections, especially the beginning and the end. I am going to break up these shots using the clips I'm going to 

• 'It was boring'. As mentioned, the shots were held on for too long, which made it boring in certain areas. The story wasn't too sure, so it became a little confusing and dull in certain areas. The new filming on Sunday will aid this, as I will use this footage to create a more in-depth music video.

• 'It needs a little more.' Many of the people who watched my video decided that it needed a little more story and narrative to make it more interesting. I have taken this on board, and have decided to add more interesting shots that make everything more effective. Specifically, I am going to film some shots with the other actress around a fire. At first, it will seem as if it is Charlotte's fault for the breakup and that she was the 'bad-guy' in the relationship. However, it will shift to shots of the fire, as foreshadowing, and will show eventually that Megan is the one who caused the breakup, and was controlling and toxic. 

Positive Points about the rough cut:

• 'The Editing was cool'. People mostly said that the editing was good in the sections that had the photograph effect. I liked this effect, and it was really difficult to do so I'm glad that it went down well. 

• 'The lighting was effective'. The lighting on the day for filming was really perfect, so this created a flawless look in the lighting.
