(Post 10) What's in the News?
Our task in this lesson was to choose a current news story, and base a music video around it. The story we chose was- "They fled Boko Haram and famine-and then they were forced back".
We chose this story, as we felt the idea of running could be interesting to interpret.
We paired the story with the aptly named "Run" by Daughter.
Synopsis:
Our idea focuses on a couple. They live in a war torn country (Boko Haram), and are being held captive by the soldiers who control their city. In an attempt to escape, the husband burns down a building, and they run as the soldiers are distracted. They run as far as they can, and make camp in a forest. All seems fine, but when she wakes up, they are surrounded by soldiers. Her husband is restrained, and he shouts at her to run away. She escapes and runs. The song ends with the pair being separated and they are both alone.
